Celebrating Barbara Brodoway: A Retirement, a Volunteer Award, and a Lasting Commitment to Community

After 21 incredible years with Ward & Taylor, Barbara Brodoway is beginning a well-earned new chapter one that celebrates not only a remarkable legal career, but also her continued dedication to serving others.

When Barbara joined Ward & Taylor, she was looking for an opportunity to focus on practicing law rather than running a law firm. Over the next 21 years, she grew as an attorney, learning from Bill and Jon and becoming an integral part of a team she describes with tremendous respect and appreciation.

Throughout her career, Barbara’s passion has been helping people achieve the dream of homeownership, particularly first-time homebuyers and individuals and families with low and moderate incomes. Her commitment to making homeownership more accessible has been a defining part of her professional life and reflects the same spirit of service she brings to her volunteer work.

That commitment was recently celebrated with Barbara’s recognition as a recipient of the DCRAC Volunteer Award, honoring her dedication to supporting the mission and work of the Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council (DCRAC). Her continued involvement with DCRAC and other nonprofit organizations reflects her belief in the importance of helping others build stronger, more secure futures.

Although Barbara is retiring from Ward & Taylor, retirement certainly doesn’t mean stepping away from the work and organizations she cares about. She plans to continue teaching, representing NCCBOR, serving on the board of DCRAC, and remaining active with other nonprofits. Her next chapter will offer new opportunities to share her knowledge, support her community, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Reflecting on her 21 years at Ward & Taylor, Barbara shared:

“I'm grateful to Ward & Taylor and everyone here for the knowledge, guidance, patience, hard work and support for the last 21 years. What makes it difficult for me to leave is that you are good people as well as good co-workers and I will miss you.”

Barbara’s retirement marks the close of an important chapter, but her professional relationships, community involvement, and commitment to service will continue. Her recognition with the DCRAC Volunteer Award is a fitting celebration of the values that have shaped her career: compassion, dedication, and a genuine desire to help others.

Congratulations to Barbara on her retirement and the DCRAC Volunteer Award! Thank you for 21 wonderful years at Ward & Taylor, and for the many ways you continue to make a difference in the community. We look forward to seeing you at realtor events, in the classroom, and throughout the community as you begin this exciting next chapter.
